I retired from Qwest (9-1-1 Sales Engineer) in January, 2008. Prior to that I dispatched for Minneapolis Fire Department. Was labelled "Indiana Retread" by a MFD captain. Moved to Bloomington, MN in 1982 from Indianapolis, IN.

Member of Indianapolis Fire Department form 1970-79. Last assignment was Chauffeur of Aerial Co. 5, Off duty accident put me in a wheelchair. Switched to Communications and Dispatched for IFD. My line then was:
"I use to be one, now I just tell them where to go!"
My brother Joe, retired as Operations Chief after 41 years with IFD. Nephew Scott is a Battalion Chief serving on Indy's Northside.

Have owned three rigs:

1951 L Model Mack Open-Cab 1,000GPM Pumper (ex-Florence (SC) Engine 31)
1967 Maxim Open-Cab 1,000GPM Pumper (ex-Indianapolis Engine Co. 16)
1979 Mack/Pierce 1,250GPM Pumper (ex-Milwaukee Engine Co. 31)

SPAAMFAA member since 1992

Married to my bride of 44 years. Have a grown son and a daughter. Both are married and are raising their families locally. Have 4 grandchildren
